MORRIS, Mary Elizabeth, of Temple Terrace, born August 1, 1923, on a farm near Horse Cave, Ky., to Walter S. and Bessie W. Galloway and baptized into Christ at the age of 13, remained true to her profession of faith until she was taken from this life June 22, 2008. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert Nelson Morris; three sons, Myke (Julie), Marc (Ruth) and Tim (Tricia); and grandchildren, Nathan, Ariana, Amanda, Russell, Daniel, Thomas, Jonathan, Jenna, Jessica, Clay, Katie and Molly. She was the 1941 valedictorian of Memorial School in Hart County, Ky., graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1944, and taught in New York and Missouri before graduating from George Peabody College for Teachers in 1947. She then was librarian and professor at Freed-Hardeman College for three years. She was librarian at Florida College from 1950-1952 and professor of English there 1965-1967. She also was head cataloguing librarian at the Gainesville, Fla., public library for 4 years. She married Robert Nelson "Bob" Morris of Glasgow, Ky., June 3, 1952, and moved back to Florida in July of 1953. She was the last surviving charter member of the Temple Terrace Church of Christ. Family will receive friends at 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Garden of Memories Chapel with funeral services there 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2008, and interment following. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Byers, L.G. Copeland, Henry Ehl, J.D. Evans and Jack Gay. Memorial donations may be made to Florida College, Temple Terrace, Fla., or LifePath Hospice. Many dear friends will miss her cheerful greetings and heartfelt generosity but her beautiful example will live on in their hearts.
