Mary Elizabeth Moore, 98, passed away April 29, 2008. Mary was born to John and Margaret (Boland) Nugent on June 2, 1909, in County Clair, Ireland. Mary came from Ireland as a teenager. She lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., and became a U.S. citizen in the late 1940s. She was married to William F. Moore. All who knew her knew her as a very independent person. She was very devoted to her Catholic faith and extremely proud of her Irish heritage including her Irish tea with cream. She is remembered for her generous spirit and was nick-named "Give Away Mary." She moved to Ormond Beach, Fla., after her retirement as a retail department store manager. In 2006, she came to Rio Rancho, N.M. Mary is survived by her three children; Mary Ellen Beggins, Smithtown, N.Y., Bill Moore and wife, Debbi, Rio Rancho, N.M., and Bob Moore, Staten Island, N.Y. She was "Nana" to 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. The sixth of 13 siblings, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1964, daughter Elizabeth Rogers, sons-in-law, Richard Beggins and Kevin Rogers; grandson, Michael Rogers and granddaughter, Barbara Beggins. Funeral Mass will be held today (Friday, May 2) at 11 a.m. at San Ysidro Church in Corrales. Cremation will follow services.
