Mary Elizabeth Lawrence Mason, age 91, widow of Wyatt Mason, died April 25, 2001, at Hospice House in Anderson. Born in Westminster Sept. 14, 1909, Mrs. Mason was the daughter of the late James Amos and Margaret Anna Clinkscales Lawrence. A lifelong resident of Westminster, she was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church, the Methodist Women, the Robert A. Thompson Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Walhalla Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Westminster Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, and the Westminster Garden Club. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Ed Prater, of Clemson. She was preceded in death by sister, Bertie Lawrence Simpson. Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. today, April 27, 2001, in the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home, with the Revs. Dr. Ed Mainous and David Ferner officiating. Burial will follow at Oconee Memorial Park. The body is at the Sandifer Funeral Home, Westminster, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today, April 27, 2001, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Westminster United Methodist Church, c/o Clark Morgan, 131 Cane Creek Harbor Road, Seneca, SC 29672; or Hospice House c/o The Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621. The family is at the residence of daughter Mary Ann Prater, Clemson.
