Mary Elizabeth Johnson Jackson Mary Elizabeth Johnson Jackson was taken by angels to be with God and her loving devoted husband, Clark, and her daughter, Joyce Jackson Edgar, on August 19, 2010. Mary was born in Cookeville, Tenn., December 17, 1913, and arrived in Tallahassee in 1930. She was a wonderfully loving and caring wife and mother.She went to night school to learn bookkeeping and worked at the Florida Industrial Commission for 30 years, to provide for her children's needs. Her last position was supervising 20 other staff members. Mary believed in working hard and playing hard. She was also a party girl. Clark's favorite saying of her was, "Son, you should have seen your mother last night, she was walking the backs of the chairs." Mary also enjoyed playing bridge.Her bridge buddies will agree she played to win. Survivors include a daughter, Anne Jackson Benson of Duluth, Ga.; son, Buddy Jackson (Joyce) of Tallahassee; son-in-law, Dr. Terry Edgar of St. Pete; grandchildren, Lori Benson (Maxie) of Duluth, Ga., Dr. Rick Benson, Jr. (Kim) of Boone, NC, Chris Edgar (Shirley) of Summerville, SC, David Edgar of St. Pete, Trey Jackson of Orange Park, Dr. Walker Jackson (Rebecca) of Boston, Mass., and Lee Schneider Cotter (Mark) of Salt Lake City, Utah; great-grandchildren, Jack Benson of Boone, Wesley Edgar of Summerville, Riley and Cooper Jackson of Orange Park, Andy, Matthew and Luke Cotter of Salt Lake City; special nieces, Frances Reeves Gertsman of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and Carol Andrews Liedy of Parrish, Fla. Mary will be interred at Oakland Cemetery at 10:30 AM EDT, Saturday, August 21, 2010.Friends are invited to come and share a memory of Mary.
