Mary Elizabeth Hartley, age 68, of Laurel Hill, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at North Okaloosa Medical Center in Crestview, Fla. She was born in Blackmon, Fla., on Sept. 4, 1939, and was a longtime resident of the Laurel Hill area. She was a member of Goodhope Baptist Church. Mary Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Hartley; and a daughter, Juanita Hartley. Survivors include her sons, David Hartley and Maureen of the Philippines, and Lee Hartley and Rosie of Belleville, Ill.; mother, Thelma Steele; sister, Lynda Barrow; brother, Gene Steele; grandchildren, Robert David and Leanne Beck, Christopher Michael and Ashley Beck, Michelle Kriston Hartley, Jonathan Hartley, Despina Hartley and Christina Hartley; great-grandchildren, Brianna Beck, Naomi Beck, Adriana Beck and Oliver Beck; nieces and nephews, Joseph and Barbara Barrow, Douglas Franklin and Debra Davis; and numerous extended family. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 5, at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Cotton Cemetery. Donations may be made in Mary's memory to North Okaloosa Medical Center. Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
