Mary Ferrell Jordan Mary Elizabeth Ferrell Jordan, 75, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007. She is survived by her husband, LaPolk "Jim" Jordan of Tallahassee. The graveside service will be at 3 p.m. EST today at Roselawn Cemetery. Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home Riggins Road Chapel (850-877-8191) is handling arrangements.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer's Project, 301 East Tharpe St. Tallahassee FL 32303. Born December 31, 1931, in Tallahassee she was a 1950 graduate of Leon High School. She graduated from Secretarial College in Silver Spring, Md. in 1954, and was secretary for several defense agencies in Washington, D.C. from 1955 to 1957.During the Cold War when the U.S. U-2 aircraft was destroyed over Russia by a Russian missile, she was secretary for the Base Commander at Incirlik Air Base in Adana, Turkey from 1959 to 1961. She was also a secretary with Air Base Group, Gentile AF Station in Dayton, Ohio; the Production Control Director, Newark AF Station in Ohio from 1962 to 1963 and for Director, IRS in Jackson, Miss.from 1963 to 1966. She was a U.S. Air Force-Korean War Vet. Upon the birth of her son, Mary chose to give up her career to devote full time to him. While stationed in Turkey Mary and her husband traveled throughout the Mid-East and Europe including Syria , Jordan, Israel, Greece, London, Italy, Lebanon, and Germany.She lived in the Orlando area over 30 years, returning to Tallahassee in 2001. Mary loved the outdoors and the beauty of nature. Other survivors include a son, Christopher L. Jordan of Palm Beach Gardens; two brothers, Carl E. Ferrell of Tallahassee, and Clyde T. Ferrell of Lubbock, Texas; and a sister, Gladys M. Billings of Tallahassee.
