ANDERSON Mary Elizabeth Daly Anderson age 83, of Fairfield, beloved wife of 56 years of Robert J. Anderson, passed away peacefully Friday, February 10, 2012 at St. Vincent's Medical Center surrounded by her family. Born in Stamford June 23, 1928, the daughter of the late Andrew and Irene Daly, she had been a Fairfield resident since 1959. A graduate of Stamford School, she retired as the secretary for Dr. Richard Vandeberghe in Fairfield following 30 plus years of service. Mary was a wonderful woman who demonstrated courage and grace, and always put the welfare of others before her own. A talented and gifted singer, Mary sang for many years at St. Mary's Church in Stamford, St. Catherine's Church in Greenwich and also at St. Pius X Church in Fairfield. She also sang in at numerous functions throughout Fairfield County, and many people often commented that she had the voice of an angel. An active member of the Emblem Club in both Stamford and Fairfield, she served in all leadership roles including President, Secretary and Treasurer. She was a member of the Gaelic American Club in Fairfield. Mary was very proud of her Irish heritage. Survivors in addition to her loving husband Robert include four loving daughters, Debra Anderson and her partner Pete Vargasko of Ansonia, Doreen Anderson of Milford, Robin Oberg and her husband Raymond of Milford and Kathleen Morse and her husband Philip of Berwick, ME; four cherished grandchildren, Alan Gregory, Robert and Rachel Oberg and Jacky Morse; a brother, John C. Daly of Stamford; two sisters, Margaret Kalloway of Norwalk and Ann Tyman of Morrisvillle, VT; and a cherished cousin, Marge Beck of Hartford, all of whom she loved very much. She was predeceased by a brother Joseph Daly. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincent's Hospital SICU for their care and compassion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Interment will be private. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
