Funeral service for Mary Eleanor Short, 65, of Oxford, will be a 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at Harvest Church of God with Bishop Jerry Irwin, the Rev. W.H. Ford and the Rev. Don Maddox officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church. Mrs. Short died Friday evening at her residence. Survivors include daughter, Anita Bevington and husband, Jeffrey, of Stafford Va.; granddaughters, Leslie Bevington and Shelby Bevington, both of Stafford Va.; sisters, Macy Feazell, Grace Martin, Joyce Story, Jeanette Hurst and Susie Padgett; brothers, James Maddox, Wallace Maddox, Alfred Maddox and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Short is preceded in death by her husband, John Duane Short; parents, Benjamin and Katie Maddox and sister, Frances Crosson. Pallbearers will be Aaron Taylor, Jimmy Hill, Danny Hill, Charles Grizzard, Fred Maddox and Bryant Maddox. Mrs. Short was a member of Harvest Church of God and retried from the Anniston Army Depot after 25 years of service. Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
