->Johnson, Mary EleanorVestal: A mother holds her child's hand for a little while and their hearts forever…..Our loving Mom and Grandma Mary Eleanor Johnson, 93, passed away on May 9, 2011 following a brief period of declining health. Eleanor is survived by her daughter and best friend, Cheryl (Marc) Liddic; grandchildren: Daniel (and companion Carolyn Toner) Liddic, Tammy (Marc) Lippman; great grandchildren: Jacob, Rachel, Jordan, Ryan and Aleeyah; a special childhood friend Alberta Sherman; several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Frederick and sister Peggy Deming. Eleanor was born on January 6, 1918 in Nichols a daughter of the late Walter Scott and Pauline Melissa (Pearl) Johnson. She attended school in Nichols and was a graduate of the Binghamton High School. On April 16, 1938 she married Frederick William Johnson and together they celebrated 57 years of marriage until his passing on February 27, 1995. She was a longtime switchboard operator for GAF and retired in 1982. Eleanor was a member of the Daughter of the American Revolution, enjoyed playing cards~although her greatest enjoyment was being with her family. A memorial service and celebration of Eleanor's life will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 3 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Sunday from 2 pm until the time of the service.
