Mary Elizabeth(Henriques) Higgins, 81, of Centerville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends on Friday, April 15, 2011. She was a daughter of the late Gabriel and Mary(Santos) Henriques. Mary was born and raised in North Easton and lived on the same street until moving to the Cape in 1990. She was an avid reader and loved children, she was a teachers aide and volunteered at the library. She loved to garden and had the greenest of green thumbs and was happiest when her hands were in the soil. She enjoyed homemaking and learning new hobbies. Mary loved all music from Waltzes to Rock n Roll, she loved to dance. She especially enjoyed live music and was a volunteer at the Melody Tent. On Cape she enjoyed walking and being at the beach, she also enjoyed traveling with her family. Mary is survived by her three children, Catherine M. Higgins of Tilton, NH, James G. Higgins of Northern Kentucky, and Deborah Antonelli and her husband Robert of Marstons Mills, sister of Alice Lindskog of AZ, Lucy Turner of PA, and Joan Gouveia and her husband Nelson of North Easton, grandmother or "Nana" of Jaime G. Higgins of Northern Kentucky, she also leaves several nieces and nephews. She will be especially missed by her ten year old friend Nabil Kurtoglu who she nurtured and loved very much. Her family would like to thank the past and present staff of Harbor Point and Beacon Hospice for their loving care and kindness. Mary touched a lot of peoples lives and made everybody feel special. Visiting hours will be in the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd., (Rte. 28), Marstons Mills, MA on Friday April 22, 2011 from 3-7 p.m. Burial will be at a later date.
