Mary E. "Betty" Christian, age 84, of West Frankfort, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 8:08 p.m. at the Frankfort Care Center in West Frankfort. She was born December 12, 1926 in West Frankfort to John Gore and Mary (McCann) Gore. She married Charles Lewis Christian on April 23, 1946 and he preceded her in death on March 16, 1998. Survivors include a son, Deane (Damita) Christian of West Frankfort; two daughters, Mary Jo (Rannie) Snider of Zeigler and Martha DeMattei of West Frankfort; daughter-in-law, Andrea Christian of Benton; grandchildren. Michelle (Larry) Ogden of Dayton, Ind., Carissa Furlong of Bedford, Ind., Christopher McLaskey of Zeigler, Elizabeth (Bubba) Vincelette of West Frankfort, Joseph DeMattei of Marion, Gina DeMattei of West Frankfort, Brandi DeMattei of Marion, Christi DeMattei of San Francisco, Ca. and Nicole (Tyler) McGuire of Benton; great grandchildren, Mica Ogden, Emma McLaskey, Emerson Vincelette, Kaydence Richardson, Taylor and Parker McGuire and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Christian; son, Michael Christian and son-in-law, John DeMattei; 11 brothers and sisters. She was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church in West Frankfort and had formerly worked at Johnny's Market in West Frankfort for many years. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the St. John's Catholic Church in West Frankfort with Father Trevor Murry officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Parker - Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort. A Rosary will be recited at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Childrens Reasearch Hospital, Ronald McDonald Charity or St. John's Catholic School and will be accepted at the funeral home.
