->WATERVILLE -- Mary E. Carpenter, 72, of Waterville, died Monday, July 10, 2006, at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Augusta on June 27, 1934, the daughter of George and Louella (Moore) O'Connor. She was educated in Augusta schools. On July 9, 1966, she married her beloved husband, Alfred J. Carpenter. They were married for 40 years at the time of her death. She had a great love of animals and missed her special pet, Buddy, terribly. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by five brothers, Ernest, Freddie, Pete, Willie, and Richard O'Connor; two sisters, Jane Spaulding and Rachel Vigue; a sister-in-law, Germaine Carpenter; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Carpenter.She is survived by her husband, Alfred; one daughter, Jane L. Clapperton and her husband, Shawn, of Oakland; one grandson, Nicholas R. Clapperton of Oakland; and one sister, Marjorie Annis of Rockport. She is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Danny Carpenter and Sarah Pooler of Waterville, Donald Carpenter, Arthur and Marie Carpenter, all of Fairfield, Neil Carpenter, Diane and Ronald Nadeau, all of Oakland, Marlene and Bob Wincpaw of Clinton, and Marion Gleason of Skowhegan; special nieces, Catheline O'Connor and Jodi Michaud; as well as many other nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by special friends, Keith Fitton and Tina Levesque of Waterville.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, July 14, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Silver Street, Waterville. Burial will take place following the service at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Grove Street, Waterville.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Mary's name be made to Humane Society--Waterville Area, 120 Drummond Ave., Waterville, ME 04901 or to Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area, P.O. Box 200, Waterville, ME 04903.Arrangements are by Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville.
