DERRY, Mary Ruth (nee McKerns) Peacefully entered into heaven September 14th, 2014. Born September 23rd, 1927, in Edm., Alta to Charles and Ella McKerns. Mary was predeceased by her husband Thomas in 1997 after 51 years of marriage. She leaves her son Michael (Lori), granddaughter Melissa, daughter Kathy Kraeling (Paul), grandchildren Jeff and Michelle (David Engen), great grandchildren, Haley and Maia Kraeling and Elizabeth, Sarah and Michael Engen. She is also survived by her brother Don (Grace) and sister-in-law Joan Derry. She is predeceased by Roy Derry and Joyce Morris (Bill), (brothers-in-law and sister-in law.) Mary is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mary was very active and spirited, a lover of sports, family, church and friends. She had her incredible sense of humour to the end. With memories of Saratoga, family tennis tournaments, holidays and get-togethers, her laughter filled a room and she always made us feel so special. She was an amazing lady and a very much loved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Brian Winsby and Oak Bay Lodge for their wonderful care for the last three years, especially Nick and Chris on Mom's final days. A celebration of life will be held at St. David by-the-sea Anglican Church, 5182 Cordova Bay Road, on Friday, Sept. 19th at 3:00 p.m.
