Mrs. Mary Dell Shuman - VIDALIA - Mrs. Mary Dell Shuman, 88, died November 5, 2008, at her residence. She was a native of Wheeler County and life-long resident of Vidalia, GA. She loved taking care of her family and meeting the needs of others before herself. Mrs. Shuman and her late husband, Dyess , owned and operated Shuman's Saveway, a family grocery store, for many years. She was a member of a local Garden Club, the Steadfast Sunday School Class, and the First Baptist Church of Vidalia. Mrs. Shuman was preceded in death by her husband, Dyess Shuman, and her son Shadrach Shuman. Survivors are: one daughter; Ginger Clark (Pete), of Hinesville, GA; one daughter-in-law; Betty Shuman of Vidalia; six grandchildren: Debra Sukaratana (Tom), of Hinesville, GA; Dyess Clark of Atlanta, GA, Pam Shuman Horne of Vidalia, Randy Shuman (Alisa) of Union Point, GA, Kim Rigsby (Mark) of Hernando, FL, Robert Shuman (Teresa) of Normantown, GA, six great- grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, November 7, 2008, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Dell Shuman will be Saturday, November 8, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. at the Vidalia First Baptist Church, Historical Sanctuary, with Rev. Don Moye and Rev. Bucky Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery of Vidalia, GA. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to the Steadfast Sunday School Class, c/o Genise Smith, 1623 Houston Dr, Vidalia, GA. 30474, or Vidalia First Baptist Church.
