BENNINGTON -- Mary Daigneault Morris, 72, a resident of West Main Street, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003 at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.She was born in Bennington, May 18, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Irving “Ding” Daigneault and Margaret (Lavins) Daigneault.Mary received her education in Bennington and was a 1949 graduate of Bennington High School. She later received her degree in nursing as a registered nurse from Saint Luke’s School of Nursing in Pittsfield, Mass.Mary married Richard E. Morris March 17, 1966 in Los Angeles.In earlier years, she had been a nurse at several area hospitals, including the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albany, N.Y. She later moved to California where she worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Los Angeles. Mary retired in 1976 and moved back to Bennington. While living in Bennington, Mary worked at the Paradise Motor Inn.She was a member of Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church. Mary was a lector at both Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church and the Vermont Veterans Home. Mary was a member of the American Nursing Association. She was a former member of the Sweet Adelaines and loved the Dallas Cowboys.Survivors include her husband, Richard E. Morris of Bennington; a sister, Elizabeth Hall of Ballston Lake, N.Y.; a brother, Donald J. Daigneault of Bennington; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home Tuesday at 10 a.m. with a prayer and then from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church at 10:30 where the liturgy of Christian death and burial will be offered. The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home Monday, Sept. 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
