POWNAL - Mary Cleary, 88, of Pownal, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, in North Bennington. She was born in 1922 in Jacobs Creek, Pa., the daughter of John Lucza and Helen Lesko Lucza.She graduated high school in Greenock, Pa., and later Beauty Culture School in Mckeesport, Pa., before moving to Connecticut in the mid 1940s.She was the wife of Richard F. Cleary.In 1958, Mrs. Cleary became one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall in Stratford, Conn., for 43 years before moving to Vermont in 2001.  Her beliefs remained a focal point of her life.She enjoyed cake decorating, sewing, arts and crafts, music, children and animals.Survivors include a son, Richard Cleary of Pownal; a daughter, Sharon Morrison of Raleigh, N. C.; one grandson, two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Lovasic of Greenock, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by brothers, John Lucas, Andrew Lucas and Charles Lucas, and by sisters, Anna Caton, Margaret Arilotta and Helen Brkovich.Private arrangements will be at the family's convenience. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
