Mary Laura Barnette Clark, 96, of 504 W. Queen St., Pendleton, widow of Jessie Alvin Clark, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at Anderson Area Medical Center.Born Aug. 13, 1907, in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late Oliver T. Barnette and Ethel Langley Barnette. She was the oldest member of Pendleton United Methodist Church in Pendleton and was a homemaker.Survivors: Sons, Alvin Barnette Clark, of Charlotte, and Larry V. Clark Sr., of Piedmont; daughters, Laura Clark Smith, of Central, and Kathlyn Clark Carpenter, of the home; a sister, Dorothy Barnette Butler, of Stanfield, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.She was predeceased by a son, James Thompson Clark; a daughter, Iris Clark Watson; a brother, James Lathan Barnette; and a sister, Emma Barnette Ballard.Service: 2 p.m. today at Pendleton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Harper and Dr. Lloyd White officiating. Burial: Pendleton United Methodist Church Cemetery in Pendleton.The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. today.The family will be at the home of a daughter, Laura Clark Smith, 144 Earle Road, Central.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Pendleton United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 646, Pendleton, SC 29670.The McDougald Funeral Home in Anderson is in charge of arrangements.
