Mary Charles McGee September 20, 1937- February 20, 2015 Columbus, Ga- Mary Charles McGee, 77 of Columbus died Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services will be Monday, February 23rd , 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial in Parkhill Cemetery. Father Dan O'Connell will officiate. A Rosary will be said at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, Columbus with visitation to follow from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. McGee was born September 20, 1937 in Montgomery and raised in Mt. Meigs Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Barnett and Mary Ledyard Pinkston. Mary Charles had been a resident of Columbus since 1964. She devoted her life to being a loving and caring wife, Mama and Mimi. She more than excelled in all! Mary Charles was an active member of the George Walton Chapter DAR, the Windsor Park Garden Club, she was also involved in a number of charitable activities throughout her life. Survivors include her husband retired CSU professor, Billy D. McGee of Columbus, two daughters: Jane Wesley McGee Pair and her husband Kent of Midland, Ga., Philippa McGee Brown and her husband, Neal of Hamilton, Ga.; sister, Philippa Todd of Mt. Meigs, Alabama and brother, Thomas B. Pinkston, Jr. of Mt. Meigs, Alabama and five grandchildren and one great grandson: Bryant and wife Laura Pair and son Mack, John and wife Jessica Pair, Christopher, Kathleen and Thomas Brown.
