MILLER, MARY CATHERINE REED, 84 , passed away peacefully on August 10, 2005 in her home with her family at her side. She was born January 13, 1921, to Frank and Mayme Reed, Mary graduated from St. Benedict Grade School and Shawnee All Girl High School. Mary had a playful personality and an easy laugh which earned her the nickname of "Giggles Reed". As a young woman she was also a standout athlete and caught the eye of her husband-to-be, Paulie Miller. On August 19, 1944 Mary married her soul-mate, Paulie, who preceded her to heaven on June 29, 2005. Throughout their 60 years of marriage Mary was a devoted partner in Paulie's coaching and public service careers. She was the strength beside the legend fulfilling their dreams and God's work. Mary not only nurtured her own family, but she opened her home to others so they could enjoy love, laughter and her warm embrace. Mary was an exemplary role model, teacher and a great source of love and inspiration to her 11 children, Barbara Miller-Murphy (Don) , Tony Miller (Carla Bass), Beverly Miller, Karen Bowling (Ted), Margie Miller, Rita Murray (Tom), Sandy Glasford (Bob), John Miller (Kathy Martin), Gary Miller (Sandy Dearen), Teresa Noe (David), David Miller (Dawn Evans); 30 grandchildren, Deana Murphy Graham and Jodi Murphy Blocker; Anthony Miller; Jacky and Kelly Doyle; Eric, Aaron and Maria Bowling; Megan, Stephanie and John Resch; Erin and Jessica Murray; Patrick Stetson, Will and Catherine Glasford; Ashley, Danielle, Courtney, Nicole and Gus Miller; Brittany, Evan and Collin Miller; Bradley, Lauren and Jackson Noe; Ryanne, Michael and Kate Miller; 3 great-grandchildren: Molly, Emma and Harry Graham. Mary is also survived by her sister, Thelma Walsh and her brothers Edward and Mike Reed. She was preceded in death by her brother R.J. Reed. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 510 Breckinridge Lane, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, August 11th and from 1-4 p.m. and and 6-9 p.m. on Friday, August 12th from at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road.
