Carter, 80, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014.Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Luther and Frances Lula Messer. Mrs. Carter was employed at Carter's Nursing Registry for over 20 years and served in the US Army. She was also a member of Oak Crest Baptist Church.She is survived by three daughters, Helen Frances Taylor, Mary Sue Nelson and Betty Marie Ford; one son, Anthony Mark Carter; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Carter is predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, William Jackson Carter; one son, William Joseph Carter and step-mother, Helen Elizabeth Holcombe.
