Mary Ellen Duncan Carter, beloved wife of the late Alton Carter, passed away Friday, September 12, 2008, at the age of 78. She was a very talented seamstress, gardener, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Mrs. Carter dearly loved her family. Surviving are her children, Delores, Sam, Mike and Hope; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and sisters Ella Mae Sharpe, and Sarah Howell. She was preceded in death by her brother, William Duncan. Visitation will be Saturday, September 13, 2008, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral service will be Sunday, September 14, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, West.The family is at their respective homes.
