<!-- FH = CARTER, JAMES -->CARTER, Mary Barnes, passed away September 17, 2011, in Tampa. She was 80 years old. A native of Charleston, S.C., the daughter of James and Mary Barnes, she grew up and attended school there. In 1950 she married James A. Carter, and she supported him during his military service in the Korean War and throughout his corporate life. They settled in Florida in 1987. She was a devoted wife and life partner and a loving and inspiring mother and grandmother. Her family and her faith in God defined her life, which she lived to the fullest. She was a member of Hyde Park United Methodist Church for over 20 years, and she served with her husband in its Caring Ministries and in its Worship Ministries as an active member of The Altar Guild. Mrs. Carter is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, James; her two sons, Jim and Jeffrey; daughter-in-law, Judy; and four grand-children, Jimmy, Austin, Ashley and Alexa of Tampa. Her ashes will be interred in Hyde Park United Methodist Church's Memorial Garden, and she and the family request that donations be made to Hyde Park United Methodist Church for the benefit of its Altar Guild and its Worship Ministries. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 22, at Hyde Park United Methodist Church, 500 West Platt St., Tampa, Fla., with reception to follow in the activities center, given by the Altar Guild of Hyde Park United Methodist Church.
