Memorial service for Mary Carter, 84, who died Saturday at the Hospice Care Center, Port Orange, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, 620 S. Grandview Avenue, Daytona Beach, with Matthew Schlageter, resident chaplain at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, officiating. Mrs. Carter, a native of Raleigh, N.C., moved to Ponce Inlet in 1928. She retired in 1990 as manager of The Daytona Beach News-Journal Cafeteria. Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Kelly, and one grandson, Michael Kelly, both of Daytona Beach. She was predeceased by her daughter, Eileen Kelly, who died in 1994, and eight siblings, Marge Hamilton, Warren Hamilton, Sidney Hamilton, Ervin Hamilton, Watson Hamilton, Minnie Baker and Olivette Caldwell. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
