Mary Lucille Carpenter, 81, of 106 S. Florida Ave., died Monday, April 3, 2006. Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late John and Mamie Taylor, and wife of the late Robert Curtis Carpenter. Mrs. Carpenter was a homemaker and was a member of Welcome Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School Class to little children for over 50 years. Surviving are a son, Machen Carpenter (Paulette) of Mt. Pleasant; three daughters, Charlotte Carter of Greenville, Pam Thurston (John) of Piedmont, and Carol Pridmore (Mike) of Duncan; two sisters, Ruby Mack of North and Evelyn Thompson of Gray Court; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by a grandson, Christian Thurston. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery, West. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Hospice, 414 Pettigru St., Greenville, SC 29601. The family is at the residence of Pam Thurston, 301 Highway 17, Piedmont. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, is in charge of arrangements.
