MARY CARPENTER WANATAH, IN Mary Carpenter, 92 of Wanatah, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the VNA Horton Hospice of Valparaiso. She was born on February 13, 1916 in LaCrosse to Edgar and Mary (Street) Bruder. Mary was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Wanatah, where she was in the Ladies Aid. On October 14, 1933 in LaPorte Mary married Charles Carpenter who preceded her in death in 1991. She is survived by her son, Thomas (Marilyn) Carpenter of San Diego, CA; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Pumroy of Valparaiso; and brother, Melvin Bruder of Valparaiso. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Natalie June Fary; and 2 great grandchildren, Kendall Wallace and Jay Quinn. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 21st at 10:30 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church 15496 S. 900 W., Wanatah with Rev. Joel Steven Zipay officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00-7:00 PM at Kosanke Funeral Home 105 E. Indiana Ave., Kouts.
