GREAT FALLS, Va. Mary Beth Lyons, 45, a devoted and loving wife and mother, valiantly fought a long battle with metastatic breast cancer and died peacefully at her home in Great Falls, Va. on March 16, 2005. Mary Beth was born in Albany, N.Y. on October 14, 1959 and raised in East Greenbush, just outside of Albany. She was the youngest of five children born to Arthur and Ellen Lyons. She met her husband, Steven E. Warner, while they were freshmen in college at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y. Mary Beth graduated in 1981 with a bachelor of science degree in medical technology. She obtained her American Society of Clinical Pathologist's certification and worked at Strong Memorial Hospital. Mary Beth and Steven moved to the D.C. area in 1982, where she began her career here as a medical technologist with the Arlington Hospital and then with the Georgetown University Hospital, as supervisor of the immunology and virology labs. She attended the Georgetown University and received an MBA in finance. After earning her MBA degree, she became a health care consultant with Ernst and Young in Washington, D.C. and then a financial analyst for INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Va. Mary Beth and Steven married on June 9, 1990 and honeymooned in Hawaii. She stopped working outside the home two years ago to spend more time with their two beautiful daughters, Katie Warner and Maegan Warner. She was a member of St. Catherine on Siena Catholic Church in Great Falls, Va. Mary Beth is survived by her loving husband, Steven Warner of Great Falls, Va.; two daughters, Katie and Maegan also of Great Falls, Va.; her parents, Arthur Bolen Lyons and Ellen Lyons of East Greenbush, N.Y.; sisters, Lauretta LeFevre of Niskayuna, N.Y. and Barbara Lyons of Friendswood, Texas; brothers, Arthur Bolen Lyons III of Granite Bay, Calif. and Stephen Patrick Lyons of Montrose, Pa.; many dear nieces and nephews as well as many devoted friends and relatives, all of whom are scattered throughout the country. Mary Beth deeply touched those around her with her quiet strength, rock-solid faith and unceasing concern for others. Her courage inspired us all. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. with prayers at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 18 at ADAMS GREEN FUNERAL HOME, 721 Elden St., Herndon, Va. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1020 Springvale Rd., Great Falls, Va. Interment in Chestnut Grove Cemetery.
