Mary Ann Gallagher (nee Pentony), 85, of the Town of Newburgh, died Oct. 17, 2012, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease and dementia.Mary was born April 8, 1927, in Newry, County Down, Northern Ireland , to parents Jack and Annie Pentony.She lived in Orange County for 60 years but never forgot her Irish roots and often returned there for visits.She worked in the sewing department at Lloyd's Department Store and in food services at Mount St. Mary College. Mary was a parishioner at St. Patrick's Church in Newburgh. She enjoyed reading and sewing. Most important to Mary was her family.Survivors include two daughters, Mary Roberts and her husband, Tom, of Newburgh and JoAnn Kroner and her husband Gregg, of Bloomingburg; three grandchildren, Tara Goldman and her husband, Jonathan, of Walden, Colleen Bardi and her husband, Joseph, of Central Valley and Tommy Roberts and Bridgette Muller of Newburgh; two stepgrandchildren, Rachel Kroner of Brooklyn and Sandra Kroner and her fianc, Michael Colesanti, of White Plains; two great-grandchildren, Joseph Bardi and Patrick Goldman; a brother, Patrick Joseph Pentony of Gloucester, England; a sister, Una Owens of Newry, Northern Ireland ; and many nieces and nephews living in Newburgh, Highland Falls, Maryland , England and Ireland.She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Patrick Sr.; a son, Eugene Patrick Jr.; a sister, Philomena Fuquay; and a brother, Sean Pentony.A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Oct. 22 at St. Patrick's Church in Newburgh.
