Proverbs 31:25; 28.Mrs. Mary Alice Williams, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, departed the walks of this life Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was 71 years young.Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, William Ray Johnson; her parents, Homer S. "Jack" and Marie Smith. She was a resident of Jacksonville, Ala., for 52 years and resided in her beloved town of Florence for the past 13 years.She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Lawrence Williams, Florence; one daughter, Kimberly (Kerry) Gott, of Gadsden; one son, Stephen Johnson, Miami, Fla.; two stepsons, David (Linda) Williams, Florence, and Roger (Keri) Williams, Maumelle, Ar.She was affectionately known as "Munner" or "Grandma Alice" to seven grandchildren, Jared (Sasha) Gott, Eric Gott, (Leah Young), Kara Gott, Meigan Williams, Dane Williams, Caysie Williams and Kayla Williams. She was "Buddy" to two great-grandchildren, Ayvia and Elijah Dane. She also leaves her memories to be cherished by one brother, Homer S. (Cil) Smith, Jacksonville, Ala.; two sisters, Jackie (Ray) Hicks, Warm Springs, Ga., and Norma (Skip) Lanier, Opelika, Ala.; brother-in-law, Wayne (Betty) Johnson, Jacksonville, Ala.; two special pets, Zonna and Heidi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends who loved her dearly. She brought sunshine into the heart of everyone she met.Mrs. Williams was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and attended Stony Point Church of Christ. She was actively involved in teaching others about Christ and especially enjoyed making and sending cards to everyone who celebrated a birthday or anniversary at Stony Point Church of Christ. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at Stony Point Church of Christ, with Brad Adcock officiating.Pallbearers will be Larry Olive, Russ Lambert, Larry Wear, Leilus Walker, Paul Scott, Darrell O'Rourke, Billy Dickson and Tim Sharp.Special thanks to honorary pallbearers, Dr. Robert Mann, Dr. Robert Webb, Dr. Felix Morris and Dr. Wes Marchman. "Mrs. Alice's" children and young people from Stony Point Church of Christ also will serve as honorary pallbearers.Mrs. Williams' family would like to thank the wonderful nursing staff of ECM ICU who cared for her tenderly for seven weeks; the nursing staff of ECM Palliative Care, sixth floor; as well as the staff of JW Sommer Rehabilitation and the staff of Hospice of the Shoals for their care and support. Thank you for walking this journey with us.A second service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at K L Brown Funeral Home, Jacksonville, Ala., with the visitation beginning at noon. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Jacksonville, Ala."Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised."
