MASON, Mary Aileen Peacefully at Starwood Extendicare on Wednesday, August 25, 1999 in her 86th year. Predeceased by her parents Catherine Veronica Mason and Thomas Joseph Mason and by her sisters Veronica Mason and Geraldine McGill. Dear sister of William F. Mason and his wife Madeline of Victoria, British Columbia and Marguerite Nadeau of Three Hills, Alberta. Also survived by her brother-in-law Desmond McGill of Montreal, Quebec and by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews across Canada. Aileen was an officer in the Womens Royal Naval Service and served proudly during World War II. With an outstanding career in microbiology which spanned over several decades, her scientific contributions were many. She was an active member in many associations including the Canadian and International Federations of University Women, Color Photo Association of Canada and Ottawa Field Naturalists Society. As well, an avid photographer, outdoors enthusiast, extensive traveller and a patron of the arts. Aileen will be greatly missed by her family members and her many friends. The family would like to invite all friends in a celebration of her life; Saturday, August 28, at 488 Highcroft Avenue, Ottawa between 2 and 5 p.m. At Aileen's request there will be no visitation or service. Cremation followed by interment in St-Francis de Salles, Cemetery, Smiths Falls.
