MILFORD - Mary Arlene Sanborn, 77, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sept. 27, 2010, having just spent a few days with her sisters in Christ at a retreat in Columbia Falls and enjoying the weekend with her family. A lifelong resident of Milford, she was born there May 12, 1933, the daughter of Bert and Mabel (Spencer) Sanborn. Mary was a graduate of Old Town High School, Class of 1951, and worked for many years in the library at the University of Maine, Orono, before retiring. She was a member of T.O.P.S. and enjoyed the simple things in life: going for coffee and breakfasts, rides and being with her family. Mary was a member of Bangor Church of Christ and will be remembered as a lovely Christian lady who devoted her life to God and family. Mary is survived by her daughter, Tracey Allen and her husband, Ralph, of Hermon; her grandson whom she adored, Jacob Allen; brother, George Sanborn of Passadumkeag; several nieces, nephews, cousins and sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her parents; a son, Trent Bert Sanborn, in 2006; by her twin brother, Franklin Sanborn; and oldest brother, Ralph Smart Sr. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at Bangor Church of Christ, 516 Union St., Bangor. Private interment will be in the family lot at Scott's Corner Cemetery, Greenbush.
