JOHNSON, MARTHA ZABEL, 97, of Louisville, died Thursday, October 12, 2006 at Hurstbourne Health Care. Mrs. Johnson was a retired Principal of Longfield Elementary School. She graduated from Louisville Girl's High School and Louisville Normal School. She received both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Louisville. She was a member of Crescent Hill Woman's Club, Woman's Club of Louisville, Delta Kappa Gamma Education Society, Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and Salem United Church of Christ. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Calvin and Edward Zabel; and her husband, Andrew W. Johnson. Survivors include her good friends, Dee and Ken Panke, who cared for her. Funeral service to be at 10 a.m. on Monday at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Ln., with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday. Memorial gifts may go to her church or the charity of your choice.
