AIKEN, S.C. - Martha Willing Chapman Redd, 89, of Aiken died April 12, 2003. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Gloria Chapman Edward, Augusta; a sister, Nellie Wiling Rhoden, Greenwood; sister-in-law, Minnie Willing, Aiken. Mrs. Redd was a lifelong resident of Aiken, member of First Baptist Church, Aiken County and State Auditor elected by the people and appointed by governor for 32 years consecutive. First woman ever elected to public office in Aiken. She was a member of Chamber of Commerce, Ladies auxiliary, Business and Professional Womens Club. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Fred Andrea officiating. Interment will follow at Aiken Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 3157, Aiken SC 29801. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Shellhouse Funeral Home, 924 Hayne Avenue, Aiken, S.C.
