SMITH, MARTHA P. Martha Phyllis Roberts Smith passed away surrounded by family on 1/19/09 in the care of Haven Hospice. Martha was born on November 27, 1927, in White Springs, Florida, and was known in the town as "Sister Roberts". Her faith was very important to her. She loved talking about God and how He worked in her life. Martha worked at the University of Florida Campus Bookstore for many years until she retired. She was a member of the Newberry Red Hatters "Gad Abouts", she attended bingo every Monday and she was a member of the H2U Club. She was a volunteer at Haven Hospice. She always considered herself an "encourager" and felt she was put on earth to encourage others who were hurt, sick or sad. Martha is predeceased by her husband Morgan Lee Smith, Jr. to whom she was married 53 years. She described her marriage as "we married, then honeymooned the rest of our lives." Martha is survived by her son Morgan Lee Smith, III (Genie), daughter Patricia Ann Smith Moore, grandchildren Morgan Lee Smith IV (Heather), Christopher Edwin Smith, Jamey Patrick Moore and Casey Ann Moore and two great grand children Megan Lynn Smith and Benjamin Morgan Smith, all of Newberry, Florida. Graveside Services will be held Friday, January 23, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Newberry Cemetery with Pastor Andy Cook officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 22, 2009, 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS WESTAREA FUNERAL HOME 823 NW 143RD STREET.
