Martha Kate Stephens <br/> WOODRUFF, SC --> Martha Kate Stephens WOODRUFF, SC--Martha Kate Stephens, 82, of 235 Law St., died Sunday December 7, 2014 after a brief illness. A native of Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Alice Gertrude Marshall Wylie, and widow of Arthur Stephens. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Ann Robinson. Other survivors include five children and their families: Marshall Stephens, Woodruff, SC; Valerie (Glenn) Williams, Woodbridge, VA; George (Debra) Stephens, Riviera Beach, FL; Wallace Stephens, Washington, DC; Vernetta (Leonard) Allen, West Palm Beach, FL; three siblings, Betty Meadors, Woodruff, SC; Sally(Forrest)Robinson, Bolivar, TN; John (Shirley) Wylie, Nashville, TN; 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 25 nieces and nephews, dozens of cousins, and other relatives, friends, and admirers. She was the church clerk for 49 years at New Bethel Baptist Church. She was involved with numerous social, church and civic groups in the Woodruff area. The family will receive friends 6-7:30PM, Friday, December 12, 2014 at the W.J. Gist Memorial Chapel in Woodruff. Service will be Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 1:30 PM at First Baptist Church in Woodruff. Burial will be in the New Bethel Church cemetery.
