Martha H. Anderson, 70, of East Bridgewater passed away Oct. 13, 2012. She was born in New York City, Feb. 22, 1942, to the late Margaret Pickett Anderson and Quentin Anderson. She grew up in Manhattan. Following graduation from the Dalton School in NYC, Martha attended Bard College in Rhinecliff, N.Y., where she studied art and graduated in 1964. She traveled through Europe prior to teaching art in Monticello, N.Y., and taught in a day care center in NYC. She had many interests including oil painting and embraced new technology using her computer to create digital paintings. Other interests included gardening, animals, birds, nature, trees and all things natural. Martha fought to prevent development of open land in Craryville, N.Y., where she spent many years of her life. She also was well versed in politics and world affairs. She will be missed as a caring friend and mentor to many family members and friends. She leaves behind her brothers, Abraham Anderson of New York City and Maxwell Anderson of Dallas, Texas; her cousins, Ann MacBain of East Bridgewater, Thomas Henschel of Victoria, B.C., in Canada, Lisa Roberts of East Bridgewater, Sarah Wilkerson of Hanover, Md., and Christopher MacBain of Mattapoisett; a nephew and niece; and many other close family and friends; as well as her two cats. A memorial gathering for family and friends will be planned in the near future to honor Marthas life.
