LaVALLEE Martha Basala LaVallee, wife of Robert G. LaVallee. Mother of David G. LaVallee of Wylie, Texas, Sharon LaVallee-Young of Washington, D.C., and Alison LaVallee-Strehlow of Shelton; step-mother of Susan Howarth of Waterbury. Bob and Martha were married for 50 years. She attended school in Bridgeport and graduated from the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. She was a night supervisor, head nurse in pediatrics and head nurse in a surgery wing. She was a member of the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association and she was on the Board of Registrars in Becket. Martha was a member of the First Congregational Church of Becket. Martha enjoyed baking, crafts and sewing. She moved to the Berkshires in 1972 as a summer resident and as a permanent resident in 1989. Prior to that she was a long-term resident of Monroe. She also leaves two sisters, Mary Malchisky of Rumford, Maine, and Anne Sature of Clifton, N.J.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by six brothers, one sister and one granddaughter. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 14, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Becket, YMCA Road (Route 8), Becket, Mass. Donations may be made to the charity of onePs choice. OPBrien Hilltown Community Funeral Home, in Huntington, Mass., is in charge of arrangements.
