Marjorie (Marj) Sue Osborne, 83, of Destin, Fla., passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011.Marj grew up in Kansas City, Mo., and later moved to Elizabethtown, Ky., where she raised her family. She was a resident of the northwest Florida area since her and her husband Pete moved to Destin in 1982. While living in Destin, Marj developed lifelong friendships. She treasured her friends and the times she spent with them, whether they were playing bridge, traveling the world, or watching the sun set in Destin Harbor. Marj loved sports and especially the New York Yankees. She was a regular at spring training in Tampa and at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Marj was a loving mother and wife who adored her husband, children and grandchildren. She instilled in her children the importance of a loving and tight knit family and that is her true legacy.She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis S. (Pete) Osborne; her parents, Frank Hail and Margaret Gilchrest Spink; her brothers, Frank and George Spink; and two sons, Robert "Bobby" and Larry Lanz.Marj is survived by her daughter, Terry Groll and her husband Michael of New York; two sons, Frank Lanz of Elizabethtown, and Doug Lanz and his wife Kathy of Owensboro, Ky.; nine grandchildren, Ben, Clint, Jonathan, Mac, Philip, Skylar, Mary Kate, Alex and Drew; seven stepchildren, Russell Osborne, Tom Osborne, Nancy Osborne, Ruth Osborne, Becky Dale, Suzy Rabun and Franny Brumfield and their spouses; and 13 step-grandchildren.A memorial Mass will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at The Church of the Resurrection in Miramar Beach, Fla.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul, 1015-C S. Preston St., Louisville, KY 40203; or to the National Jewish Research Medical Center (Pulmonary Fibrosis Research), 1400 Jackson St., Denver, CO 80206.
