Marjorie Ann (Smith) Smith Saratoga Springs - Marjorie Ann (Smith) Smith, the wife of 55 years and best friend of Ronald D. Smith, passed away September 16, 2012. She is the mother of Kelly Lawless (Edward) and Kevin Smith (Pamela) and grandmother of Amanda Marie Smith and Sean Gregory Smith. Marjorie was born in South Londonderry, Vermont, on March 11, 1936, the daughter of the late Nelson and Gertrude Smith. She is survived by her brother Nelson Warren “Dick” Smith (Shirley), sister Joan Savina (Robert), and brother-in-law Bruce Wilcox. She is predeceased by her sister Carolyn Wilcox and brother Francis Smith. Marjorie attended high school at both Burr and Burton Seminary and Cushing Academy, and received a BS from the University of Vermont in 1958 and an MS from Russell Sage in 1973. Marjorie taught elementary school for the Saratoga Springs School District, at School 2, School 4 and most notably second grade at Division Street School. Marjorie was an Honorary Life Member of the New York State Congress of Parents and Teachers. Marjorie most enjoyed holidays with family; her grandchildren; traveling to Old Orchard Beach, Myrtle Beach, and Boynton Beach; and ocean cruising. She enjoyed dining out at her favorite restaurants. Marge was a gamer with a passion for bridge, pinochle and mahjong, as well as her daily crossword puzzle. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Saratoga Hospital for their outstanding and compassionate care. Marjorie was a 34-year cancer survivor. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at Tunison Funeral Home at 105 Lake Ave, Saratoga Springs. Calling hours will be Friday, September 21, from 5 pm to 8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saratoga Hospital Oncology Center.
