LOUDONVILLE Marjorie O'Hare, 77, Loudonville and Boca Raton, Fla., passed away Monday, December 13, 2004 at her home in the company of her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Marjorie was born December 8, 1927 in Cohoes, she was a native and lifelong Latham resident until moving to Loudonville a number of years ago. She was the daughter of the late Bertha M. and Leslie C. Gaffers and grew up on the family farm and dairy(Gaffers Dairy) on Troy-Schenectady Road, presently the site of Latham Farms and Latham Retail Center. She graduated from Watervliet High School and was an alumnus of the Mildred Elley Secretarial School. Married to her high school sweetheart, Thomas V. O'Hare on December 2, 1950, she worked along side her cherished husband until the time of her death. Together they operated Gaffers Ice Cream Co. with her parents and owned and operated O'Hare's Frostop Drive-In Restaurant for many years. They were also owners and operated Latham Driving Range throughout the 70s and 80s. She was also a principal and officer of Gaffer's Realty and B.E. and L. Inc. Marge enjoyed the time she spent and the friends she made over many years during summer months at Lake George as well as at their second home at the Yacht and Racquet Club of Boca Raton. She took great pleasure in spending time cruising Florida, the East Coast and to many of the islands of the Bahamas as well as spending numerous recent summers aboard their private boat, Irish Miss, traveling to the many seaside towns and ports along the Atlantic coast. She was a member of Schuyler Meadows Country Club, Wolferts Roost Country Club, and the Ocean Reef Club, Key Largo, Fla. She was also past president of the F.W. Pitts Hose Volunteer Fire Co. Women's Auxiliary and was a member of the Colonie Elks Women's Auxiliary. She was the beloved wife of 54 years of Thomas V. O'Hare; devoted mother and best friend of Carolyn A. Moore (Kerk) of Latham; and Deborah A. Shea (Michael) of El Paso, Texas; grandmother to James T. Moore and his fiancee Rita Kane of Boston, Mass.; Jeffrey C. Moore of Boston; Meagan L. Shea and Robert M. Shea of El Paso. She is survived by three nieces and one nephew. She also leaves many dear and special friends and acquaintances she developed throughout her lifetime and extensive travels. The family would like to thank her caregivers for the attention, comfort and compassion they have offered throughout Marge's illness. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 17, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville. Interment will be in the family plot in Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands. Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday in the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
