Marion "Birdie" Long Wheaton, 84, of Huddleston, Virginia, died Saturday, August 31, 2013. Marion was born September 5, 1928 in Baldwinsville, New York. She was the daughter of Dr. William M. Long and Fay Quimby Long. Marion was predeceased by daughter, Amy Wheaton Cardoza. Marion is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, Robert H. Wheaton. She is also survived by her children: Kathleen A. Wheaton of Bessemer, Alabama, Thomas M. Wheaton of Huddleston, Virginia, and Eileen M. Haungs (Jim) of Lynchburg, Virginia. She also will be remember always by her five grandchildren: Brodie M. Williams, Lisa Kibler Martin (Tim), Brooke N. Williams, Seth B. Williams, and Emily Kibler Casdorph (David), as well as great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Ellery Martin and Cassidy Williams. Marion graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Syracuse, New York as a Registered Nurse. She worked for many years in Baldwinsville, New York and Lynchburg, VA, first in a doctor's office, then as an emergency room nurse, and orthopedic nurse. After her retirement, she served as a Parish Nurse at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lynchburg. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at Resurrection Catholic Church, 15353 Moneta Rd., in Moneta, Virginia on September 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Father Salvador Añonuevo presiding. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. at the church. Burial will immediately follow the Mass in the Church Cemetery.
