Henry Bass will officiate with interment in the Cairo Cemetery. Mrs. Walker passed away at the Big Bend Hospice House on Sunday, November 7, 2010, in Tallahassee, FL. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Lehman, David Stallings, Wyman Richter and Willard Chason.Mrs. Walker was born in Jackson, GA on January 27, 1922, to the late John Otis and Rosa Thompson Minter. She was a member of the Cairo First United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Mercer University and served as president of her sorority Alpha Delta Pi, then went on to graduate from the Georgia Baptist School of Radiology.In May of 1942, she married John Walker of Cairo, GA. While living in Cairo as a homemaker and substitute teacher, she was very active in her church circle, her garden club and local woman's club. Survivors include: daughters and son-in-law, June Phelps of Tallahassee, FL, Rebecca and David Bentley of Valdosta, GA; grandchildren, Shawn Phelps of Eugene, OR, Catherine Roark of Valdosta, GA, Kirsten Phelps of Tallahassee, FL, James Carl Minter, III of Lexington, KY; step-grandchildren, Melissa Stubbs of Valdosta, Shannon Sumner of Valdosta, GA, Emily Kent of Warner Robins, GA, David Bentley, Jr. of Kingston, TN, Zackery Bentley of Augusta, GA, Jesse Bentley of Roswell, GA, Kathryn Bentley of Valdosta, GA; great-grandchild, Jillian Roark of Valdosta, GA; special family member, Ulysses Carter. Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by: her husband, John Wyeth Walker; her parents, John Otis and Rosa Minter and a sister, Lucy Elizabeth Patrick.The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2010, at Clark Funeral Home.
