Marion Howard, née en 1922, conjointe de Donald Howard, mère de Jan, Penny, Julie et Brad, est décédée le 15 août 2006.
HOWARD, Marion - The life of Marion Howard will be celebrated by all who loved her on Monday August 21st with visitation at 2:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM at the Tubman Funeral Home in Carp, Ontario. Marion passed away peacefully in her home on August 15th with family who loved her dearly. Marion's life was an adventure. Born on December 26, 1922 in Tredegar Wales, she grew up to be a beautiful young woman who caught the eye of a young Canadian Soldier, Corporal Donald Howard. The two were married in Shepperton England on March 31, 1945 and quickly started to build their family. With their first child in tow, Marion arrived in Halifax on the Queen Mary in August 1946 ultimately settling in North Bay in September 1946 where she raised her family. Marion was a home builder. Her children; Jan, Penny, Julie, and Brad grew up in a loving environment with the constant scent of home cooked meals and “made-from- scratch” baking. Son-in-laws and daughter- in-laws; Phil (Jan), Wally (Penny), Mike (Julie), and Kate (Brad) were quickly pulled into Mom's sense of family. Her grandchildren and ultimately their spouses Nicola/Shane, David/Meg, Jeff/Katie, Daryl/Jess, Lindsay, Jamie, and Emma all loved their Nana for her hidden sweets, hand knitted gifts, and special surprises at Christmas and on Birthdays. Marion loved to have fun whether at home or the cottage. Countless nights were spent at the kitchen table playing cards, although we suspect she may have cheated a little, her antics and her threats to “give us what for” left us laughing until our stomachs hurt. While she will be missed by everyone, she has moved to the next chapter in her journey and we should be all comforted by the fact that Don has the truck packed and is waiting to take his beautiful bride off on their next adventure.
