Marion was born on July 24, 1917 in Oxbow, Saskatchewan. As a young woman, Marion went to Business College in Winnipeg and returned to Oxbow to work in her father's Dry Goods store. After marrying Charlie in 1940, she lived with him in many small mining towns. After leaving Ottawa in 1953, they settled in Fort Saskatchewan. Later, they also lived in Western Australia and Iran. Marion and Charlie enjoyed traveling to many cities in Europe. In every way the Hames' home was the centre of the neighborhood for laughter and play and Marion welcomed all. She always made time to help others and was a devoted wife and mother. Marion also volunteered in the First United Church and in retirement years, delivered "Meals on Wheels" in Edmonton. Marion loved to entertain and delighted all with culinary treats. Marion's passion included books, decorating, antiques, the making of beautiful quilts and knitting, donated to raise funds for various causes. She made many friends in her final home at Garneau Hall Seniors Residence. She had a kind heart and will be missed by all who knew her. A private family ceremony will be held at a future date, with spreading of the ashes and Celebration of Life. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to your local Salvation Army Chapter.
