Marion Frances Smith, age 73, of St. Augustine, died June 16, 2003, at her home. She was born in San Francisco, Calif., and was a longtime resident of Santa Barbara, Calif. She moved to St. Augustine in 1993 from Childersburg, Ala. She served as assistant in her husband's dental practice in Santa Barbara, and with him as a medical missionary to Papau, New Guinea. She retired to St. Augustine in 1993 after ownership of Smith Hardware Co., Inc., in Childersburg, Alabama. She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church and former member of Navy League Council 489 and Kiwanis Clubs in Childersburg and St. Augustine.Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2003 at Memorial Lutheran Church with Dr. Kerry G. Hinkley, pastor officiating. Services will also be held in Santa Barbara with interment following at Santa Barbara Cemetery at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined and those wishing may make a contribution in her memory to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 525 S.R. 16, No. 112, St. Augustine, FL 32084.She is survived by her husband, Dean O. Smith, D.D.S. of St. Augustine; a daughter, Mrs. Beth Fant of Castaic, Calif.; sons, Mr. Warren J. Smith of River Ridge, Louisiana, Capt. Guy P. Smith and Mr. Eric D.
