Breton, Marion C. (McCarthy) TROY Marion C. McCarthy Breton, 96, formerly of Sixth Avenue, Troy, died Friday, April 20, 2007 at the Springs Nursing & Rehab Center in Troy. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late James McCarthy and Mary (Reynolds) McCarthy and wife of the late Arthur F. Breton. She had resided in Raymer-town and Troy all her life and attended a one-room schoolhouse in Raymertown and St. Peter's School in Troy. Mrs. Breton was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church. For many years, Marion was postmistress of Petersburg while operating a general store for 35 years on the Taconic Lake Association premises in Grafton along with her husband and parents. She loved and served a generation of TLA members and, in addition to her three children, was "mother" to hundreds of members' children, showing them untold kindness. She was named an honorary member of the Taconic Lake Association. She is survived by a son, James F. Breton (Delores) of Amarillo, Texas; a daughter, Kathleen Hoag (Douglas) of Brunswick; her devoted daughter-in-law and her husband, Mary Kay Breton Oliver and John Oliver of Speigletown; eight grandchildren; four great-grand-children; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Arthur J. Breton, and a brother, Vincent McCarthy. Funeral service will be held Monday at 9:00 a.m. at Bryce Funeral Home Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy and at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 North Lake Avenue, Troy, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Randall Patterson, pastor. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4-8 p.m. Interment, St. Peter's Cemetery in Troy.
