Marie worked as a domestic and waitress in Sydney and Halifax prior to her marriage in 1943. She moved from Margaree Forks to Antigonish in 1954 with her husband and four children. She became an active participant in the life of her church and community. She was a member of St. Ninian's Catholic Women's League, the Ladies Auxiliary of both Arras Branch 59, Royal Canadian Legion and the Marian Boys' Choir. She was a long-time volunteer at the Antigonish Jail for which she received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Nova Scotia Attorney General. She and her husband operated a Bed and Breakfast where her warm hospitality and excellent cooking were much appreciated and through which long lasting friendships were developed. She will be remembered as a gifted seamstress, wonderful cook and a kind, loving and generous mother, grandmother and friend. Always ready with a kind word, a favour, or a pot of soup, she was loyal, faithful and gave from the heart. Her strong faith was reflected in how she lived her life.
