POOL, Marie Anne June 4, 1941 - October 18, 2008 Anne Pool (nee MacKay) passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 18, 2008. We thank the staff of Victoria Hospice in the Royal Jubilee Hospital of Victoria, BC for making her last days so comfortable and serene. She was 67. Anne was predeceased by her parents, Rachel and Magnus MacKay and by her husband and partner, Thoedore Richard (Ted) Pool. She leaves behind her dearly beloved son, Richard Robert Pool, friend and devoted daughter, Gayle Miskosky (Pool) and granddaughter, Samantha Anne Miskosky, her pride and joy. She also leaves to mourn, her dear brother, Jey (Maryann) MacKay, aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Anne was a pioneer in the field of women's civil engineering. She graduated from the University of Alberta (Edmonton) in 1961 as only the third ever female student to hold a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, at nineteen years of age no less. And later she became the first professional woman civil engineer in BC in the mid sixties. Anne worked in the engineering field for more than forty-five years, retiring this past summer from Stantec after more than twenty-three years of service, mentoring and friendship. She will be dearly missed, but we rejoice with her as she has gone on to her reward in heaven as a beloved child of God. Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 27, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. from North Douglas Pentecostal Church, 675 Jolly Place, Victoria, BC. A luncheon will follow the Service. gemsam@islandnet.com.
