Marian Janet Livermore 89 years, of 3731 Meads Creek Road, Painted Post, died Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at The Waters of Three Rivers. She was born May 4, 1917 in Corning, NY, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Edith Phelps Livermore. She was a lifetime resident of the area and she had attended the two room school house in Coopers, and was a graduate of Painted Post High School and Elmira Business Institute. She also had attended several banking educational programs. Marian and George J. Cleveland Halm were married January 1, 1937 in the Campbell-Erwin Baptist Church, Coopers Plains, NY. She was first employed with the Corning Glass Works Optical Department. Later she became employed at the First National Bank of Painted Post, NY, retiring from the First National Bank (Central Trust Bank) in 1968. She was co-owner of Halm-Livermore Laundry Mat, Elmira, NY. She was second generation of the family to serve as superintendent of the Coopers Plains Cemetery, retiring the position in 1999. Marian was a member of the Campbell Erwin Baptist Church since her 12th birthday and served as Sunday school teacher and organist for the church for many years. She was a member and president of the Missionary Society of the church. Marian was a member and past regent of Corning DAR, member and Vice Chairman of the N.Y.S. DAR, N.Y.S. Chairman of the Flag of the USA, past matron of the Eastern Star, member of the Coopers Plains Grange #820, Corning Music Association, and a past member of Church Women United. Marian was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved people, especially infants and children and was a friend to so many, opening her home with caring hospitality. She truly will be missed by her family, many friends and business associates. Surviving: her husband of 70 years, George; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Francis Schosger of Painted Post, NY; grandson, Francis G. Schosger of Painted Post, NY; great-granddaughters, Thomasina Schosger and Julia Schosger, both of Painted Post, NY. Also, sister-in-law, Irene Farr Livermore of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, Clyde W. Livermore; and sister, Inez F. Albee; and brother-in-law, David Albee; and granddaughter, Lauralynn Schosger. Friends may call at the Haughey Funeral Home, 216 E. First St., Corning, NY, Sunday, January 21, 2007, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a Memorial Service at 3:30 p.m. Corning-Baron Steuben NSDAR will conduct a Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow calling hours at the funeral home Sunday at 8 p.m., Rev. Dr. W. Hugh Tucker (retired pastor) and Pastor Tom Bell of the Campbell-Erwin Baptist Church will officiate. Committal Prayers and Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at the family plot in Coopers Plains Cemetery.
