MOUNT TABOR - Marguerite Mary Washburn Davis, age 87, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at North Fulton Regional Hospital in Roswell, Georgia.Mrs. Davis was born in Cambridge, N.Y., on May 11, 1922. She was the daughter of Azel Falkenbury Washburn and Mary (Winning) Washburn. She completed her early education in Benson, Vt. She then went on to work herself through high school in Rutland, during which time she met the love of her life, Theodore Davis. She graduated Rutland High School in 1941. She was a career waitress working at such establishments as Kong Chow, Lookers, The Bardwell and the Holiday Inn. Upon retirement, she loved her time spent with children as a Lunch Lady for the Newtown, Connecticut, school systems.Surviving are two sons, James A. Davis and friend Joyce Brown of Rutland and Ted E. Davis and his wife Debbie of Middlebury; two daughters, Gloria-Jean Merrow and her husband Edward of Danby and Debra Drake and her husband James of Woodstock, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, Jamie, Job, Victoria, Brett, Michelle, Amy, Alison, Nichole, Megan and Ryan; nine great-grandchildren, Hal, Sean, Calvin, Ian, Phoenix, Brianna, Addison, Maverick and Maya; several nieces, nephews, cousins. And all the many grandchildren Gram's adopted as her own over the years also survive her. She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore J. Davis, on March 9, 2006. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Jack Washburn and Raymond Washburn. The funeral service "In Celebration of Her Life" will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 4 p.m. at the Mallory Funeral Home in Fair Haven. Family and friends will share in the service. A private graveside committal service and burial will take place at a later date in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery in Center Rutland.Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, March 6, from 3 p.m. until service time at 4 p.m.Memorial gifts, in lieu of flowers, may be made in her memory for her great-niece to Grace Life Church, for the benefit of Abby Fitzpatrick, 655 Molly Lane Suite 140, Woodstock, GA 30189.Arrangements are under the direction of the Mallory Funeral Home in Fair Haven.View the guest book at www.rutlandherald.com/ obits.
