Marguerite L. Peters, 90 FALMOUTH - Marguerite L. Peters, 90, of Falmouth, passed away on Nov. 20, 2014, at Falmouth by the Sea in Falmouth. She was born on July 29, 1924, in South Portland, the daughter of Ralph and Ruth Lunt. Marguerite attended Westbrook Jr. College and Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1948. She spent her entire nursing career in the obstetrics and gynecology surgical departments at New York Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University Medical Center, retiring as a nursing administrator. Marguerite was married to Fred W. Peters and upon retirement in New York they returned to her beloved family home in South Portland where they cared for her mother. They traveled to various National Parks throughout the U.S. enjoying a shared interest in nature and birds, with trips to the ocean and going to the Metropolitan Opera in New York. They loved cats and considered them 'their children.' Margie was a wonderful cook and enjoyed entertaining her family and many friends. She was a volunteer at the State Street Church in Portland. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred W. Peters; her mother, and father; and brother, Edward W. Lunt. She is survived by cousins, Alan (Joan) Carter of Brunswick, and their sons, Stephen, Luke and Jason, and Robert (Jean) Carter of Newman, Ga. and Linda Carter of Newnan, Ga. She had many caring companions from HomePartners in Scarborough. Thank you to the caring staff at Falmouth by the Sea for their care and compassion in her later years. A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at Evergreen Cemetery, 672 Stevens Ave., Portland. Arrangements were made by Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland.
